Traveller DanishTraveller Danish is a mixed language with Swedish grammar and Northern Romani vocabulary. Traveller Danish is a Para-Romani variety. Para-Romani means that the members of the Roma ethnic group are speaking a variety of the respective majority language with Romani lexicon and, if at all, only a few Romani structural features. There are various examples for Para-Romani varieties: Erumantxela is a variety of Basque, Caló is a variety of Spanish, and Angloromani is a variety of English. There are three Para-Romani varieties based on various Scandinavian languages: Tavringer Romani, Traveller Norwegian and Traveller Danish. Usually these three are summarized under the cover term Scando-Romani. |
